You will find that using java has its own eccentricities. Java applets and scripts make your web pages come alive; but applets have to download onto your computer first, then run. This makes your page load very slowly. Some scripts will work with Internet Explorer, some won't. Most of these pages will show you what the scripts do. If you use Internet Explorer for your browser, find out if the script will work. If it doesn't, should you use it on your page, your visitors using Internet Explorer will get error messages.
| Rose's Java Archive | I would suggest going to Rose's page first. Her directions for the use of applets are very easy to understand. Even if you don't want to use any of them, go ahead and download one or two just to get in some practice. Believe me, it will come in useful when you get into more complicated applets. |
| He has all kinds of applets, they've been put in a library and are very easy to find. |

* If a midi player does not come up but the "Save this file" dialog box does, click "Open this file" and uncheck the box which says "Always ask before opening this type of file". If you don't uncheck the box, everytime you click on a midi file, that same box will come up. It gets old pretty fast. See also Tips and Tricks
